Those who are working on “finding their voice” and solidifying their musicianship within a rapidly changing and somewhat fickle industry - I want to help these clients stay grounded to have their ideal long-term careers in music.
Kristin Ditlow, American pianist, vocal coach and conductor, is enjoying a career in opera and recital in the United States and abroad. Philadelphia Inquirer’s Michael Caruso has remarked on her “exquisite sensitivity and exhilirating thrusts of energy.” Charles Jernigan (Opera News) cited her performance of Norma as having “an exciting overture … and having conquered the piece.”
She is an alumna of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Westminster Choir College, Tanglewood Music Center, Franz Schubert Institute, Merola Opera Program, and holds a DMA from the Eastman School of Music. She is currently Associate Professor of Vocal Coaching and Music Director of the Opera Theatre at the University of New Mexico.
Her advocacy for healing and connectivity in the arts has led her to become a YogaVoice® Certified Teacher. She and Mark Moliterno will present on YogaVoice® topics for the 2023 National Opera Association conference. Together with Moliterno and Sean Stanton (Informatics Rehabilitation QiGong) she is a co-founder and artistic director of Soul Salutations (2023), which has received funding from New Mexico Arts for its inaugural session.
Active on both the podium and as a concertizing pianist, Dr. Ditlow returns to Opera Steamboat this summer to conduct The Three Feathers (Lori Laitman). She will make conducting debuts with Permian Basin Opera, Raylynmorr, Salt Marsh Opera, and Opera Ithaca this season. Her solo CD debut, Passages, of vocal and opera transcriptions, will be released on the Affetto label in 2022. Worldwide recitals of repertoire from this disc will follow the album release.
